Pilot Requirements
Private Pilot Certificate Requirements:
- At least 17 years of Age
- Pass Aeronautical Knowledge Written Exam
- Acquire at least 40 Hours Total Flight Time
- Acquire at least 20 hours dual instruction including:
- 3 Hours Cross Country in helicopters,
- 3 Hours Night Flight,
- with a 50 NM Cross Country Night Flight
- At least 3 Hours of preparation for the Practical Exam
- Acquire at least 10 Hours Solo Flight including:
- At least 3 Hours Solo Cross Country,
- One Solo Cross Country at least 75 NM, with one segment of at least 25 NM and landings at 3 different points
- 3 Takeoff and Landings at an Airport with an Operating Control Tower
Instrument Rating Requirements:
- Hold at Least a Private Pilot Certificate
- Acquire at Least 50 Hours Cross Country Pilot in Command
- Acquire at Least 40 Hours Total Instrument Time including:
- 15 Hours of Dual Instrument Instruction
- At Least 3 Hours in preparation for Practical Exam
- One Cross Country Flight consisting of:
- Distance of 100 NM along airways or ATC directed routing
- A different type of Instrument Approach at each of the three different airports
Commercial Pilot Certificate Requirements:
- At Least 18 years of Age
- Acquire at least 150 Hours Total Flight Time including:
- 100 Hours in Powered Aircraft, of which 50 must be in Helicopters
- 100 Hours Pilot in Command Flight Time consisting of:
- 35 Hours in Helicopters
- 10 Hours in Cross Country Flight in Helicopters
- 20 Hours of Dual Instruction including:
- At Least 10 Hours Instrument Training
- One 2 Hour Cross Country Flight in Day VFR conditions of more than 50 NM
- One 2 Hour Cross Country Flight in Night VFR conditions of more than 50 NM
- 3 Hours in preparation for the Practical Exam
- 10 Hours Solo Flight including:
- One Cross Country Flight, of three points, with one segment consisting of at least 50 NM
- 5 Hours Night VFR Flight with at least 10 Takeoff and Landings
